行継続マークに関するリクエストは、2007/06の以下のようなものが最初のようです

これは、林さんがおっしゃっていたように、プログラミング言語に
関するものですね
もともと、色や表示位置などの指定だけを用意していたのですが、
その後なんでも指定できるように拡張しました
