It has been decided by OASIS UOML-X TC that the brief scope of UOML Part 2 is about document security. Draft scope is as follow: Part 2 is based on Part 1, defines instructions used for document security control operations, including DRM, identification, access control, priority management, digital signature, and electronic seal, etc. The following parts have not been decided till now: Possible part #1: extended operations UOML Part 1 has defined basic instructions for layout operations, this part defines instructions for combined operations, such as copying/moving documents, merging/separating/extracting documents or pages, and instructions for operating extended information, such as navigation, thread, thumbnail and hyperlink. Possible part #2: harmonization among application softwares This part defines instructions and guideline for various application softwares, which come from different vendors, to collaborate closely and provide harmonious user experience, it includes embedding editorial document, setting up and maintaining the mapping relationship between the embedded editorial document and its layout information, setting up the associated relationship between the editorial document and its editing software, automatically invoking the associated editing software to edit the editorial document of specific part on a page, unifying user interface, etc. Possible part #3: query This part defines unified instructions of querying in the complex and enormous docbase data. These instructions provide multiple query methods, such as querying based on font, size, position and other layout information, instead of only full text and meta data search.
