6. What to do next

  1. DTD

The 9573-11 DTD should include some additional user requirements. They should be dealt with in some Amendments to the ISO/IEC TR 9573-11 2nd edition.

  2. Style specification

The style specifications described in ISO/IEC TR 9573-11 2nd edition are based on ISO/IEC directives that specify page rendering for printing. For future web distribution of ISO documents, some extension to rendering for display will be required.

  3. Tools

The tools prepared by the XML Project cannot yet support all the style attributes defined in the ISO/IEC TR 9573-11 2nd edition. According to the discussions with actual users of the tools, the XML Project will be able to provide more refined version.

  4. Legacy SGML documents

Legacy SGML documents with the ITSIG exchange DTD could be converted to well-formed XML documents by using, for example, SX (SGML parser, http://www.jclark.com/sp/index.htm). The XML documents can be converted to XML documents conforming to TR 9573 by an XSLT processor. The XSLT specification for those tree transformation could be developed by the XML Project, if requested.
