4. Standard DTD and Rendering

The TR 9573-11 has been approved in the normal procedure of ISO/JTC1 rule. Therefore, the XML DTD can be "standard" XML DTD for describing ISO standards.

In addition the TR 9573-11 includes style specification for all the elements defined by the DTD. The style is based on the ISO/IEC Directives and style specifications are described by DSSSL(ISO/IEC 10179) and XSL. Therefore the XML documents (and SGML documents) can easily be rendered for printing, displaying, or creating PDF files.

Today we can get some (free or retailed) XML tools and rendering tools. Importing the DTD and style specification of the TR 9573-11, authoring, editing, interchanging, printing, displaying an XML document and creating PDF files can be carried out. Of course, the printing page images are conforming to ISO/IEC directives.

For non-experts of XML, the XML project prepared particular XML tools (free software based and retail software based) that include the DTD and style specification of TR 9573. By using the tool, ISO standards in XML form can easily created and printed without particular knowledge of XML and style specification languages.
